Fast Facts:

  • On July 1, 2023 the requirement for a training class/proficiency demonstration and permit to carry a concealed firearm in the state of Florida will be lifted.
  • Residents must still meet all existing requirements to carry a gun: over 21, not a felon, etc.
  • Open carry is still unlawful.
  • Twenty-five states now have permitless carry; Florida will be the 26th.
  • You can still get a concealed carry permit in Florida, which is also valid in many other states.
  • The bill also expands school safety programs, including allowing employees to carry concealed at work, establishes threat assessment standards for schools, and allows the use of firearm-detection dogs on campus.
