The following is a video transcript.
Hi. Mark Edwards here. This month, I would like to discuss carrying your firearm while celebrating Halloween.
Be Mindful of Others
There is no prohibition against carrying your firearm with you while your kids are trick-or-treating. Keep in mind that homes in your neighborhood are private property, which means you may be asked to leave the premises if the homeowners discover that you are carrying. Be respectful of their wishes and depart immediately if this happens.
What about schools, churches, and festivals?
If you’re attending an event on educational property or at a school-sponsored event, you are not allowed to carry a firearm on your person. If you have a Concealed Carry Permit, you may leave your weapon in your car, provided it is in a container and the car doors are locked.
You may carry in other buildings such as churches and community buildings, but make sure there are no signs prohibiting such possession.
Possession is permissible at public festivals, but if a parade is part of the event, only those with Concealed Carry Permits can be armed at such events.
Here’s hoping that you and yours have a safe and fun Halloween. If you have any questions regarding the issues I just discussed, call U.S. Law Shield and ask to speak to your Independent Program Attorney.
