Meet Your Pennsylvania Independent Program Attorney: Gilbert Ambler
Hello. I’m Gilbert Ambler, one of the Independent Program Attorneys for U.S. LawShield. I’m a criminal defense attorney and a firm believer in defending constitutional rights. I’ve carried a concealed firearm for many years, completed multiple firearms training courses, and I recreationally shoot on a regular basis. I’m fortunate to live in an area where I can enjoy target shooting on my own property, which was one of the main reasons I moved to a rural area.
I grew up hunting and enjoy shooting shotguns, rifles, and handguns. My legal career has intersected heavily with the firearms industry, and I’ve been fortunate to have experience dealing not only with individuals who have been charged with the crime after using a firearm to defend themselves, but also with the compliance requirements for Federal Firearms Licensees or those engaged in the business of making, importing, or selling firearms.
Criminal defense came naturally to me. It paired my interest in constitutional law with my love of guns. My favorite thing about working with LawShield is having the ability to protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners from any who may try to violate the constitutional rights that we all enjoy. This also puts me in a position where I get to regularly advise members on laws they need to know.
If I could give a gun owner on the street just one tip, I would stress the importance of situational awareness. So many problems that I see gun owners run into could be avoided if the individual was more aware of how rapidly a situation was escalating. If you begin to sense a problem and have the opportunity to safely leave, you should do so. This will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
If you have any other questions for me, call U.S. LawShield and ask to speak to your Independent Program Attorney.
Hello Gilbert,
I have a question not a comment.
What are the laws on ccp holders from Pa, boating on the Delaware River with your firearm? We all know how Nj feels about firearms.
I’m on the bucks county tidal section and it’s patrolled by Nj. State troopers.
P.S. Nice to meet you
Hello, and nice to meet you as well! Carrying on the Delaware is inadvisable. Due to the fact that the area is patrolled by both PA and NJ law enforcement, the danger of actually running into the NJ side is far too high, with severe consequences. While your PA LTCF is recognized all the way up to the border, when crossing the river the exact moment the border is crossed can be up to the interpretation of law enforcement and causes a tremendous risk to those otherwise legally carrying!
Thank you very much. I always took the better safe then sorry rout, and will continue to fallow your advice.
I am so glad I’m a member of law shield. Have a fantastic weekend!

How is it that the P.S.P. is able to create and maintain a handgun registry…of all handguns bought, sold, or transferred within the state, in complete violation of state law…PA cs6111.4. How about we challenge this again and bring P.S.P. in compliance with state law?
